I think the problem stems from the JavaScript you are using to test which
plugin is installed.

Where has this JavaScript come from?

Was it generated by FlashMX 2004's built in plugin checker?

A little more information would help us help you a bit better.

I copied the script from another site. I didn't realize MX had built in plug
in checks. I had little success using the similar feature in 5.0, so this ti
me
around I wanted the window to pop up immediately if someone didn't have the
latest version. Could you elaborate on how the plug in works for MX?

When you say "I copied the script from another site" do you mean you viewed
the source and literally copied it? If so I would advise against this method
 of
collecting JavaScript, not always but often JavaScripts call other scripts h
eld
on the server and unlike HTML don't always work when simple copied and paste
d
into a new document.

There are however lots of very good JavaScript repositories on the web, they
will include the full code, a description of what it does and usually a
tutorial on how best to impliment them.

As for Flash's built in plugin checker, to be honest I've not used it so can
't
comment either way, as far as I know it's a preference in the publish settin
gs.
Give it a go and give us some feedback.
