JPEG, PNG and Web Pages

just upgraded from Publisher 2000 to Publisher 2003.  The web publisihing pr
ocess converts JPEGs to PNGs which dramtically increases the file sizes lead
ing to much slower loading of webpages.  Is there a solution to this problem
?
