I'm starting a website for my company with limited knowledge of Flash, but I
'm
learning. I've seen a few topics that are similar to my question, but not
exactly, so I will go ahead and ask.

My partner would like to have a way for our site to detect whether or not a
viewer has Flash, and if they do not, he'd like the viewer to have a choice
of
either downloading the player, or going to an HTML version of our site.

It seems as if this should be possible, but I'm not sure how to set it up.
Should I basically set up an entire Flash site within a HTML dreamweaver pag
e
so that a viewer can then link to the other HTML pages of the site if he or
she
doesn't have Flash? Can Flash or Dreamweaver even detect whether a viewer h
as
Flash?

If someone can point me in the right direction to figure this out of start t
o
set it up I would really appreciate it. Also, if you know of any real-world
examples, I'd love to see them.

Thanks!

Hi Eleni

Flash can Definately check if a browser has Flash player installed.
have a look in

File ---> Publish Settings ---> HTML tab

NOTE:
make sure you have both SWF and HTML selected in the first tab. Each time yo
u
select from one of the options, a new tab becomes available. You are looking
for the HTML tab, and at the top, you should see a check box for "Detect Fla
sh
Version".
Checking this box, then pressing the Publish button at the bottom, gets Flas
h
to generate a html page for your SWF with embed code, and Flash Detection Co
de.

Hope this helps you out. and Welcome to Flash. :grin; You will LOVE it!!
