Hello all,
I apologize if this is not the right place to be posting my question, but I
wasn't really sure where to start. I'm planning to start a web-based busine
ss soon, but I have a few design concerns so I'm hoping you can help me out.
I'm not going to bore you with the details of the site, but basically it w
ill consist of a directory of several products for sale from several differe
nt vendors. As I do not plan to carry any inventory myself nor do I plan to
take any profit off the actual purchase, my question is, can a site be desi
gned so that a customer could select multiple items for purchase from these
various vendors and seemingly pay for them through my site?
I envision some sort of coding/program that would run the orders to each ind
ividual company via my website, which would provide all of the customer info
rmation to each company (i.e. shipping info). They would then be filling th
e orders directly from this information.
I realize that this is very vague and that each company will be set up diffe
rently, but I'm just trying to figure out if anything like this is indeed po
ssible. I feel that it must be as it is the same concept as dropshipping, o
nly I would be using multiple vendors on one order.
Another option I may have to consider is having the customers actually pay m
e and then my site automatically generates an order to the company using fun
ds from my business but with their shipping address. I would rather have th
eir payment going to these companies directly, but split billing like that m
ay not be possible. However, I'm not even sure this is something that can
be automated. I definitely don't want to be placing orders to each individu
al site myself, which is the whole point of having the customer buy from mul
tiple companies at one site.
Well, I hope that isn't too confusing. Thank you for your time and I would
appreciate any help you may be able to provide!
