A council in the Australian city of Sydney is taking radical measures
against car-revving youths - by using piped in Barry Manilow music.

From July, Barry Manilow's greatest hits will be piped into a car park in a
bid to drive the youths away.

You have to feel some pity for the lads.

I heard that on the news today in the UK. It's an old idea. Normally they
play classical music with these things.

I love the notion.

You have to find out what gets under their skin.

Manilow or other supposedly uncool stuff would totally freek the wee
feckers out.

I'd put on my David Soul greatest hits.

Have you been promoted? Not before time! (How much did you loan
Blair?)

David Soul's hits were fab!

Yes, I am now Lord Blake.

I can now eat at the best restaurants (and get the rest of the diners
kicked out by my 'security' people); I can rest and snore during the day
and get paid for it; I can see the world (and world cup games) all at the
expense of the little people.

I am typing here from my 40,000 acre estate. Damn shame about the test,
what. Sri Lanka...old boy, that would never have happened in my day.

'Going In With My Eyes Open' was a great (tho lesser known) hit of his.

Congratulations M'Lord!

Funny thing. Just the other day I was renewing my TV Licence online
(robbing bastards). They had a drop-down box for one's title. I was
going to pick "Lord" (yes it was in the list!). Just the idea of the
posty delivering it to me, with Lord Sweeney on the address! Or the TV
licence henchmen coming to my door and asking for his Lordship!

I decided against it. Being a webmaster, I wondered if they would check
it against their database!

Hoot, what!

Remember it well. I know it's not fashionable (never was!) but for my
generation, at least his hits are evocative.

In the UK, we are obliged (under pain of prosecution) to fund the BBC. We
cannot watch *any* channel on TV without having a licence. The money from
the licence goes only to the BBC.

It costs £131. Annual renewal.
