I'm trying to import an autocad drawing into illustrator. But when i
open the dwg file in illustrator the drawing appears, but there are a
lot of lines missing. What am i doing wrong?? I use illustrator 10 and
autocad 2002. In the drawing in autocad all the layers are unlocked.

hope anyone can help me...

I have Illustrator CS2, CorelDraw and Canvas...if you want to send me
the file at slimick at gmail dot com I might be able to open the file
and send it back to you in Illustrator 10 format

First open in cad and turn all layers on, unfreeze and unlock all layers.

Then type in filedia and set value to zero and validate, then type in cmddia
and set value to zero and validate, thenn type in psout select window , the
n metris or inches, then slect window then set the drwings units(1=1),
then enter size to cover the entire drawing trial and error might be needed
if all lines do not show. The reset filedia and cmddia to it's original value
.

Open EPS with illy it should all be there.

Regards

Hi thanks a lot for the answer, but the thing is, that i want to
maintain all layers in illustrator. And when exporting the dwg file as
eps in illustrator, all layers will be merged into one layer :-/
but yes indeed: when opening as eps in illustrator it's all there
