i'm designer. having a problem.is realism is possible without feather
and Gaussian blur .i know that  gradient  can be used to look real.i'm
already using that.but it's not enough.i need more .like  i can in
photoshop.can anyone help me out(pls try to  avoid  any kind of
plug-ins,effects and filters.because these are not flexible).

live trace? be creative.not a thief. i'm not a copier like u :-).i'm
making relistic drawings for more than 6 years.and i'm allready an art
graduate.my only fault is
that i never printed my artworks before :(. now my problem is that i
can not the use the effects.it becomes fuzzy when i try to print my
artworks made with blur or feather like effects.it's a real problem for
me.
can any illustrator pro  help me.

it sounds like you have the Raster Effects Settings set at the
default(72dpi). Go to the Effects menu and the Documents Raster Effects
Settings and change that.
Also, go to File, Print and set everything up in there.

Using gradients, blends and other tricks, near-photo realistic images
+are+ possible in Illustrator. You just have to expend a lot of work to
obtain that level of finish solely in Illustrator. A WHOLE lot.
Sometimes, an INCREDIBLE amount. Pros have been doing it since the dawn
of the program, but most either turn to raster or hybrid when faced with
that daunting challenge.

It's not the for the impatient or faint of heart, and you had better
know the ins and outs of the program very well before even trying.

The "Gradient Mesh" tool can be very good for photorealism...a lot of
people are afraid of this tool....like the Bezier tool it can be
frustrating to learn. When it first came out it caused problems with
postcript printing devices...but I think those days are over.

Make Resolution atleast 300ppi and make Anti-alias on. Then OK.   : )

Excuse me but I was thinking of making your art photorealistic as you used
to do (by photography or air brush or whatever) and then use Live Trace, so
you can steal it from yourself..........

But it appears your problems are more of a technical/software nature.

fool doing a lot of work:).but it's really not :-0.u kind of inspired

i never used blends before for realism.i'll try that.can u help me a
little bit on "blend".
