I'm bound to get a response this time!! :crossing fingers: Alright, here's
 my
situation: In the edit bar, I'm in:
Scene 1 > animated background.

In the layers of the animated background, I want to make some animated text
within this symbol, making the Edit Bar read

Scene 1> animated background> animated text
but whenever I edit the symbol from the animated background symbol, the Edit
Bar simply reads

Scene 1> Animated Text and then my movie doesn't include the animated text.

Any suggestions or insight to the simple thing I'm overlooking? Thanks!

What's "the edit bar"?
If you explain how things are laid out it would be easy to help you.
Please explain how you are making your animation. Is it in movieclips
or timeline animations on the main timeline in layers or what?

Alright, I'm very new at this so I'll do my best to explain.
First off, what I mean by 'edit bar' is the window right on top of the
timeline that tells you the rooting paths of what symbols you're editing, i.
e.
Scene1> background> animated symbol. (Animated Symbol being a symbol locate
d
in the background).

I have a background .gif in my main timeline. I have an animated background
in my first 10 frames, however, so I to edit that I click on its symbol in t
he
library. It's a movie clip. Now, within my animated background, I'm
attempting to animate a text box so it squeezes in and expands out. i've go
t
all that going just fine, I converted the text box into a movie clip symbol,
but when I go to edit that symbol (double clicking the icon in the library),
 it
doesn't set up the edit path coming from the animated background movie clip,
 it
just ends up its own independent entity, therefore not connecting itself to
the
animated background, therefore not connecting itself to my movie. Does this
make more sense?

Thanks!

There are two ways to edit a movieclip.. 1) dbl click it in the
library 2) double click it on stage.
The 2nd way you will see it in reference to the other clips that hold
it. If you dbl click it in the library you see it by itself.
You can edit it either way but the first way helps you to see how it
looks in relation to the other clips.

Errr.. I meant the 2nd way .. dbl click it on stage, helps you to see
it in relation to the other clips.
