How does one go about placing a cash value on website? Content, Data,
Administration and support?
Yahoo and Google are worth Billions, and I assume some of the Adult ones
are worth at least a million or more. But,what about the average website? H
ow
do they come up with a cash value for those websites?
Is there an organization or website that keeps track of what various website
s
are sold for?
...absolutely any direction or information is greatly appreaciated.
Thanks

I'd start with traffic and go from there.

I'd take a more traditional approach. Start with cash flow, and go from
there. Just like any business sale, it's not just the assets that are
being sold, it's the future revenue.

I'd go with that.
The very first website I worked on (back in '95) was doing 16
Gigs/months (that was when 14,400 was a fast connection and bandwidth
was expensive) when we shut it down.
It wasn't making much money though!
Cheers,
Jeff

I wasn't thinking properly. Apologies to Rastus. You are, of course,
correct. I simply forgot what makes money. Doh!

As others have suggested, one applies the same processes as when acquiring
any business or asset. Perhaps two, maybe three years profit is a good
place to start - all is negotiatable. In the end it comes down to:
o what is it worth to the buyer
o what value the seller places on it
the transfer can only take place when common ground is reached.
