Hi All,

I recently created a hybrid of our old favorite board game, "Battleship;" an
d Flash seems to be the perfect way to bring this wonderful new game to the
Internet.

Let's start with some bad news - My first time using Flash was when Studio 8
Professional showed up about two weeks ago. The good news is that I believe
I already have enough graphics background to eventually pull this off. I've
used Corel Draw since it was Release 5. More good news - I have replicated
the game board foundation in Flash, and have already managed to create a fr
ame-by-frame animation.

The part of developing the game that is still beyond me is that the game nee
ds to allow a player to move a "ship" from dockside to its "battle position"
on a 6 by 6 grid, numbered one to thirty-six (duh). The documentation sugge
sts that the best way to achieve this movement is with a tween. Unfortunatel
y, when I try to do that, the balance of the screen goes blank. Where should
I look to learn how to do this task properly?

Another event I consider crucial the overall success of the game is to assoc
iate the specific sound a ship makes when it sails from one place to another
. Sorry, but this is another required task I simply cannot figure out how to
do no matter how far I delve into the help file. Please suggest here, too.

Oh, yea, a future question will involve connecting to a database . . . any c
lues where to fine the meat and potatoes of this topic would also be great.

Thanks, Chuck
