One more answer........the Hitler comparison was right out
bad, and MoveOn.org did get rid of that within a few days or
shorter and gave their apologies. That is not the way to go,
anyone who has any historical knowledge knows that.

The commercial I am speeking about is totaly innocent and
everybody has seen it I am sure. If not, check this:
http://www.moveon.org/front/ and I am sure you will agree
with me. No reason what so ever to censor that.

National Anthems are always heating op bodies and minds, I
know that from the past, not sure what my view is on that....

Steg,

While I don't particularly like the commercial your reffering to, I agree
with your position of censorship. However, I don't think this was an issue
of censorship. A broadcast company has the freedom to decide what to air
and what not to air. I think the decision not to air political based
commercials was a good choice. After all, it's the Superbowl and not the
primaries! Hopefully all of us can enjoy a game for a few hours without
politics invading our life!

Best Regards,

David...

Hi Steg.

The ads you're talking about were 2 White House Office of National Drug
Control Policy ads.

They ran them 2 years ago, too. Use drugs and you're supporting terrorism
was the theme then.

I guess any advertisement about the current governmental agenda from this
point on is Republican campaigning, but the equal time law only applies to
actual campaign ads and actual candidates as far as I know. A benefit of
being the incumbent, I guess.

A 1971 amendment to the Communications Act requires stations make a
reasonable amount of time available to federal candidates. Not necessarily
during the Superbowl.

Those ads didn't get this voter's vote anyway. I can't see how they'd get
anyone's vote.

even further [OT] Steg - what is SMSmee? Male or female? I found it on that
link you posted to Janet's breast.

Thanks for the info Oldy......I now that ad yeah SMSmee??????? I took a look;) It is a show of a (very gay) comedian. Now he apparently is dressed up as a woman called SMesmee. SMS = sending messages through your cell phone. See this: http://www.omroep.nl/vara/tv/p apaul/ Sorry I never watch that;) He used to be very succesfull but people get fed up. -- steg

I'm glad Oldy popped in 'cause I don't recall any political messages. I
don't even recall the anti-drug ones, but I do remember the anti-smoking
commercial. You gotta love those add's....

Also, other than Fox News, can you name one major network that will give the
Republican party MORE air time than the Democratic party? I doubt it...
and Fox news would more than likely give both parties equal coverage. The
rest of the media however is *extremely* biased, almost to the point of
being anti-Bush, so I think we can rest easy knowing that exposure time
should favor the Democrats :-)

Best Regards,

Of course we can. As long as we're civil about it :-) Which I think we
both are.... Besides, I'm going to need help with AI so getting sidetracked
on political tangents and possibly stepping on someone's toes is not a smart
thing to do. So while this is a nice diversion I really should get back to
figuring out my AI problems.

Best Regards,

David...

OK David:)
My toes are not that long, I love the political debate
(unlike a lot of Americans), but this is not the place. You
should have called it political Berzier Curves instead of tangents:)

Just for the record, I help everyone, regardless of comments made on
previous posts. Our lives are multi-faceted...

Well, sometimes I get po'd at people who won't pick up a manual. Or click
that little four letter word on the menu bar before posting.

Thanks for the info on SMSmee, steg. I'm a straight non-cell phone user who
doesn't live in the Netherlands. I hope never to see that show!
