Hi all Happy New Year !!

I have a home made DVD cover which unfortunately has SAMPLE in grey
right across it thus spoiling the cover.
Is there anything I can do in PSP to remove this, layer ?
I am a complete novice with PSP sorry if this offends you clever
people.

Not offensive at all. We were all complete novices once. Removing
anything from a picture requires replacing it with something. That
something can be bits taken--usually nearby--from the image, or
sometimes something appropriate from another source.

Two general methods are common for replacing. You can select a good
piece of image, paste it as a new layer on top of the bad stuff, and
blend the edges. You can also use the Clone tool to copy bits and
pieces into place.

http://campratty.com/1earlyratty/07selections2.html is a good place
to start. You may find the tools in different places than shown for
earlier versions, but they all work the same.

The Object Remover in PSP 10 manages the copy-paste-and-blend
method. The Learning Center has a short tutorial about this in its
Retouch and Restore chapter. You can do the same technique "by hand"
with more control using a selection promoted to a layer, moved over
the bad stuff, and blended. That takes more time and practice,
though.

There could be two reasons that your DVD cover has "Sample" written
across it.
It could be that image you're using is a copyright one, and the solution
is to purchase the image from the copyright holder.
Or it could be that a demo version of the software is placing "Sample"
on your DVD cover. The solution in this case is to either purchase the
software or find a freeware program that does the same job.
I'm afraid I can't think of any reason for removing "Sample" that isn't
an attempt to steal someone else's intellectual property.
