I just downloaded PSP10 to give it a run. Much to my disappointment,
the Image Slicer has once again failed to be upgraded or bug fixed.
:-( Am I the only one using this feature and it's being ignored for
that reason ? I would think that web graphics would be a major concern
for any graphics application today.

Is there someway to get directly in touch with product people who
actually care and help them understand the bugs and needed features
for this facility ?

Corel's announced marketing thrust is to the point-and-shoot digital
photography crowd. Their actions with PSP 10 support that: a
"learning center" that ignores huge areas of PSP's function and a
plethora of "one-step" photo fixers that appear to be nothing more
than packaged presets of the flexible image editing filters we had
in PSP 9.

There is nothing new for the graphics designer in this round.

The only route to Corel for which you can be sure that someone will
at least read your message is the E-mail Corel tab at
http://support.corel.com.

Thanks Fred. I did notice that all of the "features" listed on the web
page seemed specifically targeted to photo stuff but I was hoping for
other improvements.

Although, after a quick run, it seems like they did at least fix the
non-feature with the cursor changing to the text tool from vector
selection after editing text. That alone might be worth $60.

Off the top of my head (don't have my detailed list here), some
actually bugs, not "non-features":

- the fact that the display does not "pixelate" until you zoom to
1000%  - and even then, panning across causing some areas to
de-pixelate. (Not good in a tool that needs to be one-pixel accurate).

- the requirement that you manually merge your psp image into a single
layer if you have any JPEG sections (or you may get each JPEG portion
of the image producing a miniature of the entire merged image, not
just the portion it is supposed to be).

- the 1 pixel spacer graphics that get thrown into the output HTML
table for no apparent reason.

There's a list of simple feature improvements that would make it a
whole lot better add easier to use (just "undo" would help compensate
for some of the major "non-features")

I admit that I haven't used the image slicer much, so I haven't run
across any of these issues. I'll be on the watch for them, though.

Image slicer has worked OK for my occasional simple needs. Maybe it
would never be a precicision tool, but it's easy to use and had
potential to be better. Sounds like it's not going anywhere from here.
Bummer.

I'm sticking with PSP9 and waiting to see what they do with PhotoPaint 13
(or whatever, they may consider 13 an ominous number).  PP12 is about two
generations behind in bells and whistles but otherwise quite competent.

Image Slicer is a tool with great potential and with a few minor fixes
would be outstanding... but it has not changed much lately. Too bad
:-(
