I downloaded the new firefox 1.5 upgrade but I get an "unspecified
error" when I try to open the app. Anybody know what the problem could
be?

You broke it. :-)

The malfunction is probably being caused by pre-existing settings. The
only way I know to resolve this is to uninstall all Firefox apps and
extenstions, delete the associated directories and then reinstall 1.5.

A further step that may be necessary is to search and destroy all
Firefox settings in the registry.

There's always IE. :-)

The uninstall/reinstall isn't so bad. Cleaning up the registry is a lot
easier with a product like Registry Mechanic
http://www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/

I'd rather upgrade to a UA that didn't try to be too clever for its own
socks.

So, what's a "UA" for us un-enlightened?

Oh wait, that's just one of many when Googling:
define: ua

It's a User Agent - your browser. :-)
