saving to .html rather than .htm

I also want to save a file as .html rather than .htm, but have not been able
to using the suggestions from 27/06/05.

When I publish to web, I am not given an option to save to any other format
- only 'Web Page, Filtered' comes up in the Save as box (which saves as an
.htm). And I cant seem to find an option under Tools/Options to change the
settings either.

Is there something I am missing/another way of doing it? Many thanks!

What were the suggestions were from 27/6/5? The only way I have found is to
add the extension when you get to Save As. When you type a file name, just
add the .html extension manually to the file name. It will then save the
file as *.html instead of *.htm.

Notepad+ gives you the option to "Save as.." htm, html. It's a better text
editor than Microsoft's Notepad.

Get it at:

Good morning Don,

I think what Anna is talking about is that when she chooses in Pub 2003 to
"Publish to the web" the html output from the Pub file, it uses the .htm
extension by default. In Pub 2000, when you "Save As a web page", the output
is saved with a .html extension by default. She will end up with 'index.htm'
while you will end up with 'index.html'...they changed the default since Pub
2000.

This is another reason I did not 'upgrade' from Pub 2000 to Pub 2003. I have
literally hundreds of absolute links in my site with the .html extension. If
I upgraded, I would have to go back and change many of them, and probably
should change them all.

Further to this issue, unless you are writing absolute links, then you may
find this not to be an issue. *.html and *.htm are interchangeable in
relative links.
