I downloaded the dreamweaver 8 free trial yesterday, used it, loved it, then
 i
shut down my computer that night, and when i rebooted i couldnt start
dreamweaver. i started it, i get the activation screen, then i select trial
mode, the splash screen starts. then, it looks like it is going to open, but
closes, i have reinstalled dreamweaver twice. please help me.:|

Windows Home SP2

It just happend to me as well.
Win XP pro SP2. Desktop X, Windows Blinds, Antivirus closed before install.
This was a reinstall. First install refused to go into Manage sites. Program
stopped answering every time i tried to make a new site or open a site. I co
uld
import old sites but not entering them.
I?ve already outruled the bug where files have got a strange timestamp.

Thats what i did, Closed down: Desktop X, Windows Blinds, Object dock and No
rton.
Gonna try again now. Throwing all macromedia maps away.  Even hidden ones in
 Application data and shared files.

Fixed!
Uninstalled everything on the computer from Macromedia. MX 2004 was already
uninstalled.

Deleted Macromedia in the regestry (Current user>software>macromedia)(local
machine>software>macromedia)
switched on "hidden files"
Deleted folders with macromedia in Documents and settings. (application
data)(local settings>application data)
Deleted folders in the progams folder. (shared files)

Closed everything down that?s not important to the OS.
Installed and all is working properly.

Now i just wonder what bugs we will meet next. `Cause if we have problem jus
t
installing we will probably have alot of more bugs in this premature release

Bear in mind that you are in the minority here.  Many people have installed.
Very few have had such problems.

And your judgement of premature is premature in my opinion. You have no idea
the extent to which this release was tested.

Just an update... I uninstalled and reinstalled DW8 3 times over the weekend
,
even following peppesbodega2's advice (removing Application Data for
Dreamweaver and main registry key for Dreamweaver)... even killed all TEMP
files before reinstalling... still not running.:|

Dammit! I can't get DW8 to start anymore! Can someone help me?

What does it seem to do when you try to open the app?
