I had the same problem with my Epson 2400 flatbed scanner. An Epson tech tol

me: in Manual mode, click on Configuration and remove the check mark from
Automatic Preview. This did the trick. It worked as he said it would but
without Auto Preview. I didn't like not having the Auto Preview so later, I
turned the check mark back on and it's worked fine ever since.
