job that most people think Illustrator is better then any other program. Any
help is appreciated.....Peter

Illustrator allows the artist more control than any other graphic program.
It's best for creating art. Photoshop is best for altering art. Quark is b
est
for preparing art for reproduction.

mmmmmmm
Photoshop is a photo editing (*rasterized* stuff) piece of
software. Altering is just one of the many possibilities.
Rasterized = based on pixels.
Illustrator is a *vector* based piece of software. It is a
drawing program. Other than rasterized art the results are
scalable without loss of resolution. It is totally different
really, though both are communicating well. You also have
the choice of CorelDraw or Freehand. Vectorized = based on
"lines", Bezier curves. I find Illustrator a MUST when
designing logo's, graphs, schemes etcetera.
Use both programs to make your photo's and your drawings,
place them in InDesign (or Quark or Pagemaker) to make the
lay out and add text for pre press and press.

Please make sure that I'm not speaking to any of you in particular, and I
don't mean to hurt anybody either. Most of you Adobe guys are too smart to
understand a guy with only a wish and the money to buy it, don't try to
understand it, you're too smart :-) You guys are always looking for
something logical, why not "I like to buy it" and see what it does for me,
no regrets, just do it. If I don't like it so what. Then there are very nice
people here that are willing to help a person like me to like the program,
and then I have fun. I will always ask stupid questions, but one day I will
be where the smart people are as well, and enjoy the program.........Peter
