why does it irk me when Brits call illustrator 'Illy.'

my dad is British and I get along very well with him so it's not the nation.

Is that the same as me calling the British 'Brits'? Am I a hypocrite?

You probably don't like the ring of it. It's sounds a bit.......cheesy.
But it is a lot easier/faster to type.

I'm Canadian and I write Illy. I don't say Illy though. I type it because
it's shorter and seems more accepted than AI.

i don't 'say' 'Illy' in public.. NOooooo.. sounds very gay.
like calling Photoshop 'Photy' or someink.
i don't like 'Illy' coz it makes it sound like a big girl's program.
i request, from now on, the abbreviated form of 'strator.
or Ill.
from a reactionary Brit

Maybe, I am Dutch, and I never used the word Illy until I saw it in this
group. I thought it sounded sweet and moreover I thought it saved me typing;

Almost everyone does so...

...so it's nothing to do with being British....

No - one are a group of people, the other is a piece of software...

No, you're an idiot.

Miriam Webster says...

One entry found for illy.
Main Entry: il·ly
Pronunciation: 'i(l)-lE
Function: adverb
: not wisely or well : BADLY, ILL <his illy concealed pride -- Della Lutes>

This would kinda confirm what it does to Yitz. Eh!

Personally I go along with the less typing thing.

Because it reminds you or Piccadilly, which you hate, remember?

Just kidding! I have no idea. But since this NG is Illustrator specific,
maybe AI for Adobe Illustrator (like the file type) might work. It's half as
long as "Illy" and therefore about twice as fast to type, but it involves
both hands. On the downside, AI can mean Artificial Intelligence too. But I
use that a lot too!

Just being s...Illy,

Peadge :-)
