After weeks of stabilizing, bug fixing and performance tuning Blender
2.36 is available. It adds support for normal maps too.
Blender supports VRML and X3D.

The newer Blender version are delivered with some export plugins.
On some systems, you can not use this plugins, if you do not installed
python2.3 - of course you need strace or strings to find out, that you
installed the wrong python version 8-)

But at least Blender natively support VRML Version 1.0, not only by writing
also by reading 8-)

AFAIK you need to press "ALT-C" before using the VRML 2.0 export plugin
to convert surfaces like NURBS to a mesh.

Do someone know, how to specify the number of polygons in the resulting
mesh, when pressing "ALT-C" ?

so long
