Graphire should be fine for hobbies, and you can get the 4x5" one for about
$80. Intuos are available in larger sizes and have some extra features,
like greater pressure variance, pen angle, etc., but they cost 2x or 3x as
much for the same size Graphire.

I have the intuos 9 x 12 and I wouldnt trade it for the world...
I dont think I could seriously use anything smaller though....
as I am so used to using a sketching tablet (paper not pc), smaller wouldnt
be similar...
the 9 x 12 is so much like sketching on a piece of paper...
its wonderful...

Hi.

Just hopped on the group, and one big reason is tablets. I've used PSP since
4(point something. 75?), and bought 9 before I knew anything about the
buyout. For Christmas my wife bought me an Intuos2 12X18 (Woo-hoo!!), and
now I'm going to be going crazy retraining myself to do it this way as I've
spent more than a little while teaching myself to draw with a mouse<g>.
Anyway, I joined the group hoping to find lots of cool tips for tablet
users, and possibly tips on where to find the best plug-ins and add-ons to
one (especially for a PSP user). I'll let you know more as to what I think
of the tablet once I've actually 'learned' it. Good luck! :-)

first guy; doesn't make a diff unless you have acquired quite a bit of
skill. Go to ebay buy a used Graphire 2, it'll change your life if
this is for you.

Girl; tips? mmmmmmm, you got an intuos, I guess it has diff
sensitivity buttons like my Artz. changing those will give one diff
degrees of paint lay down with the AM brushes in 9, as they don't
control easily.

Thanks for the tip, but here is a big one for you. females with my name do
not generally spell in it in the masculine Loren, it's more common for them
to use Lauren (or a variation thereof). 'Course saying my wife bought it for
me could've been a tip too. ;-) Thanks again for the tip(s).

The semantics have naught to do with psp or wacom, get a grip. It's my
meds.

Hi Greg. By all means find something or someone to blame it on.

If you reread that post, you'll see that I was really light-hearted about
the whole thing (hence the grins and winking smilies), so, no real need for
me to "get a grip"; especially since your response makes it clear which of
us is on the defensive. I will mention, being a bit of a word usage/meaning
geek, that 'semantic' is not a term that can be properly applied to a
situation like this one. Sorry.<g>

"It's my meds". No, it's not.
