Camels, Straws and Toxic Waste of Time |

Once upon a time, Usenet was a pretty interesting place.
Contrary to folklore, it was never really polite, it was never
really nice, it was never really civilized-- but it was interesting.
Real people talked about real things in between the flame wars and
personality clashes. Usenet has always had its share of unmitigated
lunatics-- but at least a little real communication took place along side
the rants and raves.
But this place has become a toxic waste dump full of posers, pirates,
and trolls--and very little else. I don't care how. I don't care why. It
just IS. This place has become an open sewer, and I'm sick and tired of it.
The trolls didn't get me down as long as something
interesting was being discussed in between the disinformation. Even the
occaisional personal attack didn't bug me all that much. Did I like it?
Of course not! But that's a part of the Usenet terrain. But when all real
discussion stops and nonsense and flames are all that's left-- it's time to
move on.
The longest and most active thread in 6 months was last week's flame
fiasco--
And that was about as intellectually stimulating and useful as a
middle-school
playground dustup.
That should tell you something.
What it tells me is that I need to find someplace more interesting to
spend my time. The signal to noise ratio here is unacceptable.
"Color me gone."
Real people with real questions and real e-mail addresses will be able
to find me elsewhere in Usenet and in the Jasc and Adobe forums, and
can always get me via my website at www.jpkabala.com

J.P., I respect your right to your decision, but I have to respectfully
disagree.
Just plonk the stupid sods. Most already have, and give no creedence to
their B.S.
Your absense would be a sorely felt void for your personality alone, to say
nothing
of the help you have given to so many.
Please think it over.

Maybe you should try again, even I got a lot more when I laid off.
Come back, as I need someone to argue with.
