tab key!?

I've just upgraded from PSP7 to PSP9. This is a MUCH better jump than
from PSP5 to PSP7 (I seem to only buy the odd-numbered versions).

While most things are better, hitting F2 instead of tab to show/hide my
tool palettes just isn't cutting it for me. So I figure: no problem!
interface customization is what it's all about. However, there's a snag.
I can't hit the 'tab' key for the new shortcut since that just moves
focus to the 'Reset All' button.

Am I stuck? I just want my tab key back!

Yes, gotta pick a new substitute key. We initially learned TAB
before, so we already know that we are trainable. :) Sorry
Coder, it's gone.

Well, if I have to learn something new, it might as well be F2. I see no
need to pick something else.

I wish I knew why: I mean, what was wrong with tab? Granted, it's only a
couple more centimeters away, but showing/hiding windows means leaving
the home row on the keyboard. The tab key was close by and (for some odd
reason) very natural (for me).

I just don't like the old take-it-away-with-no-explanation deal.

The Why is that Windows reserves Tab for moving the focus to the
next control in all dialogs. Yes, we can learn different rules for
different programs (thank goodness!), but there is some value in
consistency.
