Hello,
Does anyone know of a method or software to test websites at various speeds?
 I
built a site and want to see what dial-up users experience. Everything is
wonderful with broadband, but I have heard stories about the dial-up experie
nce.
Does Dreamweaver have a setting where I can view pages at 56k? So, when I hi
t
F12 the page is rendered at 56k.

Test page here:
http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/
Just remember that the speed result is merely theoretical, i.e. in the
real world it's usually slower....

Actually, the speeds given there should be pretty close to practical ones.
They have a good explanation of how they calculate them.

Yeah. "Pretty" close. But the more hubs and bottlenecks between the user
and the server, the slower. If you open it, it'll take X seconds. If I
open it here in Swedeland, you'll have to add a bit. And Mr. Xin Lhiao
Ping in China will likely have to wait even more.

What explanation do you need and what dial-up issue are you referring to?
