hmmm. This seems so basic that it is baffling me.

How can I maintain the rounded edge of a rounded join + cap stroke when I
expand it?

It jumps back to a flat edge stroke when I expand it.

I figured out a way to accomplish what I was trying to do.

Object >> Path >> Outline Stroke

Now I know how to do it - albeit not intuitive... or maybe my intuition is
screwed up :P
