Opening PS CS File in PS 6

I have received some files created in PS CS on a Mac. I cannot open them as
I get a "not enough memory (RAM) error." I definitely have enough ram and
have never received this message with any other files.

I've just discovered that CS files will not open in my os: win 98se. Don't
laugh, XP is bloated, Mac is too expensive, all my games run well on 98se,
so I see no reason to upgrade (aside from BS like this!)

I tried on my XP laptop which also has PS 6.0, and also gives me the memory
error. So, I'm thinking maybe PS CS files are not backwards compatible with
previous versions of Photoshop. Is this correct?

Anyhow, does anyone know if my PS 6.0 would be able to open a layered TIFF
from CS or would I probably get the same error? I ask because the guy is
willing to re-upload them in that format but he wants to charge my client
(he's the old webmaster, I'm the new one.)

Alternatively, if anyone here with a copy of PS CS wants to volunteer to
convert one or two files for me, I'll be your best friend.

Thanks,

Nevermind, I was able to make use of the files by opening them in Image
Ready and renaming.

This message refers to the amount of storage that PS has for its temporary
files. You see, PS does its own memory management.

No, it's because of the origin of the file. Has nothing to do with my memory
management.

Nope. Goes back to 6. Look in Preferences>Saving Files, check Enable
Advanced Tiff save options.
