Hi!

I am a newbie to adobe photoshop/illustrator and would like to draw
thin, curved lines, the ones that appear on the Acrobat 6.0 splash
screen or in the graphic on this website:
http://www.adobe.com/aboutadobe/invrelations/main.html

It would be nice if somebody would explain to me, how to do, curve and
colour them. Lame question, I know, but I have to start from
something...

Thanks in advance.

Wayne

You could use the pen tool, or Illustrator instead.

Pen tool, then 'stroke path' from the pullout menu of the paths palette.
Stroke with small pencil or brush (set size before you select stroke
command)

Use the pen tool, which lays down a series of points to make smooth curves.
The points have "handles" that come out to control the segments between
points, which gives you complete control of the resulting curve.

The key thing to remember is to "click, hold, and drag" when you make a
point, which causes the handles to extend outward from the point. If you
just click and release to make a point, you will not get any handles.

Okay, that was a bad tutorial. Sorry, I was lazy.

Use this much better one instead:

If you intend for them to stay in Vector format, AI definitely. In PS, the P
en
and then Stroke, but the result will be Rasterized and you will experience
some jaggies. Practice with the Pen, in either program, will benefit you, as
it does not work in the linear fashion as a Pencil, or paint Brush, because
the Path that it creates is a mathmatical function, not a pixel related one.

Have a look at Sinedots at http://www.philipp-spoeth.de/
Much easier than doing this sort of thing by hand... but then again, if you
want to.... ;-)

Lame forgery attempt on your part. A good link to your site is a
contradiction in terms.
