Adam,
It takes a VERY long time to load the home page at 56 Kb.
I tested mostly with Netscape 7.1, mostly at 600 X 800 full-screen. I
have cookies disabled.
If I go from the Home page to Products, then use my browser's Back
button, the home page has some image blocks out of position. See
http://pages.prodigy.net/chris_beall/sandbox/ozzie.jpg. This also
happens if I increase the text size.
All pages except the home page have a horizontal scroll bar, with a tiny
amount of scrolling available, i.e. the page doesn't quite fit in the
600 X 800 window.
If the window size is reduced below 800 pixels wide, significant
horizontal scrolling is required. If the window size is increased to
1280 X 1024, there are large amounts of empty space on both sides of the
window. A fluid design would adapt better to the window size.
If I click on the 'Home' link, I get:
Not Found
The requested URL /;jsessionid=449ED40B58B2EE49ED41A3950A47F864.tomcat21
was not found on this server.
I got the same result if I clicked on the centered link 'sports
sunglasses' at the bottom of the page. If that's actually a 'Home' link,
it should say so.
The words 'sports sunglasses' next to the site map link are almost
impossible to read because they are dark text on a dark backgound.
Using IE 5.5, if I try to change the text size, the only thing that
changes is the "English Polski" in the UL corner. To allow text
resizing, specify text sizes using % values, with 100% as the default.
On the site map, where there are two words, such as 'sunglasses Rush',
each word is a separate link, but both go to the same page. Why not
just have one link spanning the two words?
On the site map, there are 10 occurrences of 'sunglasses Rush' all
pointing to different pages. The visible text of the link should
describe the target page, so the user can distinguish one from the other.
I had fun playing with the sunglasses on the model, especially after I
realized I could make large movements by typing in offset values on the
address line.
There's a line of text that says 'fit on other models', but it isn't a
link, so I don't know what it is there for.
I was on the English pages. If I repositioned the sunglasses on the
model, the 'My Account' link changed to 'moje konto default'.
It looks like the Wish List page isn't really implemented yet.
The W3C validator (http://validator.w3.org/) returned 29 errors on the
home page. There aren't really that many errors (some generated several
messages) and most will be trivial to fix, but you should do that and
then check the other pages. Many errors related to the absence of alt=
text, which is important for, among others, blind users. (And, yes,
blind people DO buy sunglasses...)
The images of the sunglasses are excellent.
Regards,
Chris Beall
