Can anyone suggest ways of stopping (or slowing) the blatant pilferage of
images from websites, other than by using the Digimarc system (which is far
too expensive for non-professionals)?

Even if you watermark your images--and warn people that you are doing
so--they will still get stolen. My advice is to never put anything on the
Web that you wouldn't want plagiarized.

You can watermark with IC .. just fade out the other graphic and put it over
your image and flatten it....

If you you have photoshop you can use that or there are free progs on the
net

hotlinking is worst....
