| Hi,
how many people do you think uses Microsoft ImageComposer today? ;-)

| Hard to say. People don't throw it away, so there may be thousands. Surely
hundreds.

| Dear Jan,
How many smart people are there? It is the easiest and quickest way to
do image editing ever - and, unlike the other image-nazi programs, does
not automatically make itself the default image editor for common file
types. It even comes with a pretty fair .gif animator. It works without
whimpering, without putting a great strain on system resources, and is
the best thing that ever happened to any HTML editor. God bless
Microsoft Image Composer. I run 60 corporate and multi-media sites, and
rarely, if ever, open that Adobe abomination. I haven't got the time.

I am a user of IC and like the program. However, as simple as it may
seem, I cannot figure out how to draw just a straight line. I can draw
squares, circles, and other odd objects, but no straight line.

| Hi Ernie,
Yes, this is quite challenging. You have two options, drawing a rectangle
and rotating it, or drawing a polygon with just two points. I don't like
either, but in fact I don't need to draw lines so often.
I anyone has a better way, let us know.

| This is one of the very few truly dumb things about IC. Searching for Line
in the Help tells us to draw an open-ended polygon. Go figure.
Jane, as far as I know there is no better way.

| Thanks Walterius, I would be really shocked if I had missed this ;-))
I would be really interested in what other dumb things you see about IC?
Nobody answered to my post of what do you miss in IC...
Thanks,
Jan

| Well, it was intended solely for web gfx, so every now and then someone
whines about how it can't do high resolution gfx. That's about it, afaik.
IMO PhotoDraw is a better pgm than IC, but IC and PD can both do things that
other pgms--and each other--can't do. That's why I still have both installed
after all these years.
I still use the Impressionist plugin and that cool photo clipart in IC. I
still add text and text FX to images using PD.

I just draw a rectangle as long as needed and then reduce the width of
the rectangle untill it looks like a line. IC has a minimum width of 3
pixels and that is just a line.

| Hi Alana,
in fact you can reduce it to 1px by cropping.

| hi
you can save the cropping step by simply setting the viewing scale - zoom percent - to 200% [shortcut: use the + key] and then
you'll be able to make the line 1px wide

Alana,
Thanks for the tip, I tried it and it worked fine. I thought I tried
this before and all I could get is a narrow rectangle.

| Ok to clear this,
ImageComposer has 3px minimum limit on resize. By cropping and creating
new objects you can go beyond this limit. In fact you can create 1px
rectangle at any zoom - this is when the rectangle preview "disappears" -
this is because of the bug in IC (actual object will be 1px more right and
bottom than the preview line).
