Author sHelp with Composer.
Kramer

2005-10-02, 10:14 pm

I am visually handicapped, so have patience with me.

I have WinXP; I.E; Eudora; Earthlink; and Netscape Composer. And a
hosting company.

I I am starting my first web page.

The Composer set up asked me to put the server I am using on a line:
It requests " my ISP" be placed there. However, Earthlink is not my
server ( I don't believe) for my site. I believe that the 'hosting
company is.'

I have placed both Earthlink and my hosting company on that line at
different times, and they both come back as not being able to locate
the server. j

Please help this lost soul.

Thanks,

Bill

Thanks Rich,

I've been there. I'll go back, but it'll take me a long time.

Well. That just sucks. Mostly dead or useless links.

I personally use FrontPage 2000. The latest version is 2003.

If finances are tight, you could search for a free one. At Google, I keyed
in "free html editor", without the quotes and got WAY too many hits. :-)

Here's the link to the search result:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...tor&btnG=Search

Maybe someone else in the group has an alternate editor to look at.

If you use the FireFox browser, it will let you quickly (CTRL + +) enlarge a
web page's text as much as you want. I also am visually challenged and I
love FireFox.

The download is in the light green box at the upper right.

Nvu is pretty decent. It is Open Source (free). It is intended to compete
with FrontPage GoLive, etc.

http://www.nvu.com/download.html

Under "Binaries, Official" look for the little Windows logo in the left hand
column and choose either the .exe file (first link) or the .zip file (second
link).

See also "Extensions, Guides and Themes," especially "Nvu Tutorial" (first
link in the table) and "Designing and Publishing a Site with Nvu" (last link
in the table).

FrontPage is hard to beat, though. It is just like Word. I have FrontPage
2002.

Hope this helps.
