Author Images from a Mac to a pc won't open

A friend and I are having problems with images that she
has sent to me. She often sends jpg images from her Mac
machine, to my pc. I've attempted many times to open the
images with a program that normally (and easily) handles
jpg images. The file extension on the images that have
been sent is .hqx. The error message that I receive
is "unknown file format". Some of her images will open,
most of them won't. Images from anyone else open just
fine. My pc operates on WinXP and I use Outlook Express.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks, Colleen L

Colleen:

You'll need a program like this to unencode it 1st.
http://www.stuffit.com/win/expander/index.html

That link has a trial version of stuffit. It's a program that does pretty
much the same thing as winzip does except for macs. The page I sent you has
a link for a windows version which should decompress the files for you so
you can then open the jpg's.
