Author Common question - new aspect?

Hello everyone,

this is my first post to this newsgroup. I've done some research, before
posting this question, but couldn't find the information I seem to lack.

Using Flash MX 7 to create an intro movie, I need to stop the .mp3 music at
a certain frame. I haave tried inserting a stop(); command on a keyframe of
the mp3 layer - but this seem's to be the wrong one. I have also added a
motion guide to the layer and tried a stop all sounds(); - but still no
effect.

There are numerous posts on this subject, but I have not found a posting
that explains where to put what.

I'd be happy if you could please post the neccesry steps here. (One good
posting is enough for future enquiries to refer to.)

Btw.: I have also tried loading a new .mp3 at the intended stop frame on the
same layer, but no effect - it simply played them both...

best regards,

Andy Rose

Did you use:

stopAllSounds();

or

stop all sounds();

??

Spend some time researching the sound object and how to set one up. This is far
more effective than trying to control sounds via the timeline.

heya!!

Try making sure that the MP3 sound is set to "Streaming" in the Sounds tab.
If not, once flash encounters the mp3 sound, it will just go off and play it
regardless of any stop sound commands it encounters.
When you set it to streaming, it will stream along the timeline and stop
wherever your keyframes have a stop sounds command.
Hope this helps

Now, there's a promising hint. Can't check it right now, as I am in the
office. Thank you for your replys, I hope one of them will solve this
matter.
If not, I'll have another posting up around 7:00 pm CET tonight.

best regards,

Andy Rose

I'm sorry, but the link you supplied is dead. Do you have a current working
link?

hi,

stop(); command is intended to stop the moviee animation. Did you tried using
stopAllSounds(); this command will stop all the sounds while playing a moviee.
Or try in this way.... create a keyframe where exactely above layer of you
want to stop the sound. and then write in stopAllSounds(); it will works. by
the way this command should be on the frame action.

Best Regards,
