Author Can't pull up Graphicattachments in OEl

Hi!

I don't know if any of you can help me, or not;but, I do have OE 6 on
Windows XP-
and, recently I'd a problem where my Tower's Power box needed to be
replaced.

Now, that I have a new Power Box-I find that I am under to view .jpeg ,gif
and .bmp
attachments in my OE. The icon next to the pictured attachment is faded out
and whenever I click on it-Notepad pops up, wigh 'garbedy gook' messages!
Why is this and, how can this be corrected. I have Jasc/Corel software
(PSP7-8 and 9) and this are supposed to pop up, with the sent graphic, so,
the sendee's graphic can be view. I've gone to regedit and, checked my
settings
under HKEY_classes_Root and, check the .gif, .jpeg and the .bmp
to make sure the contents are OK.

I thought there was a program or file in either My Computer or Control
Panel where you could simply locate the 'troubling'
file to reprogram it to open with a specific other program such PSP7 or 8 or
9? If so-where is it?

Please help-

Thank you so much!

It looks like you have your images associated with Notepad and
not with the graphic viewer or image editor.

Run Windows Explorer. You can get to it from My Computer or by
right-click on Start and choosing Explore. Navigate to a folder
which contains a JPEG file - any JPEG file will do. Right-click
on the file name, choose Open With from the context menu that
appears, and then Choose Program. Select the Paint Shop Pro
program from the list, make sure that "Always use the selected
program to open this kind of file" is checked and press OK.
Repeat for a GIF file and for a BMP file. Then try things again
to see if they work any better.

Hi!

I've done this-and, it still does'nt work!

It reverts back to the highlighted Notepad after, I press OK for, jpeg, gif
and bmp graphics.

Min you-this only happens in OE when I click on Forward to view other
peoples script graphics.--This is so frustrating!

Thanks-I've tried this and it still won't work-it still reverts back to notepad!

Remember this only happens in OE, after receiving html scripting email and clicking on Plain text Forward to view the size fo te graphics sent.

this is so frustrating!

I'm sorry but I don't use Outlook Express so I can't help you
with it. If you Google you will find a number of good websites
about how to get OE to work in a semi-useful way. There is
probably a Usenet or Microsoft newsgroup devoted to OE that
you can try as well.

Why do you click on forward, That is for forwarding messages. If your
security settings dont allow the images to display in the message layout box
then Click the paper clip and open the image from there.

What do your settings under "tools, options, security" look like?
Also check the "read" tab, uncheck "read all messages in plain text"
That should allow you to view images in the body of the message.

Thankd, all!

It now works-even if a bit differently. My PSP opens up and, all I have to
do is drag and drop the graphics in to view-at least no notepad!
