| I'm looking for a script to convert an image to look like a tapestry.
Any takers?
Cheers,

There is a plugin on the market that will do just that.
David Gray posted some results a long time ago. They were amazingly
realistic, showing the stitching very clearly.
David hasn't posted here for a long time, I hope he is still lurking and
will pop up with this information.
He used Buzz Pro a lot, but I couldn't find anything in there that would do
a tapestry effect.
Maybe someone else will remember that particular plugin.

| No response so far, so I don't think he is still lurking.
A shame, his images were always a pleasure to look at.
It wasn't a script, but a plugin, a quite expensive one too if, I remember
correctly.
:-)

What should a tapestry look like in your opinion? Do you have
an example image of the result you want? It could be as simple
as applying a texture of the right kind and scale to your image.
Have you gone to http://www.psplinks.com/ and used the search
feature to find a tutorial for making tapestry? Be sure you use
other similar search terms and not just the word tapestry. Once
you find something you like it can probably be scripted.

Please post a the texture image in a format that people with
older versions of PSP can read. One way to do this is to save
it as LZW compressed TIFF so we don't have to bother about
PSP version numbers at all. An even smarter way to go is to
simply embed the image in the script so that nobody has to
remember that the script needs a special image and won't work
without it. You do this by opening the fill image in the PSP
workspace and then, when selecting the pattern, choosing this
open image from the pattern droplist rather than a file on
disk. If you do this, PSP senses that you are using an unsaved
image and encodes it into the script you are recording. It
makes the script large but it gets around having to keep
track of two files. This is handy for people who don't know
how to look inside a script to find out what is being done and
what is missing or what won't work in some circumstances.

Sorry Rusty, the image doesn't open.
The script was written for version 11.
I use X and there will be many others who use earlier versions still.
Maybe you could ask your grandson to join this group, new participants are
always welcome :-)

I forgot to mention that it works in XI and probably not in earlier versions

Why not follow my advice and make it work in all versions? The
biggest problem right now is that you've supplied an image in
PSPP XI's PspImage format, which nobody without PSPP XI can
read. If you simply reposted that image as TIFF, PNG or even
BMP (or just chose an earlier version of the PspImage format
under File > Save As > Options button) people could make the
script work. You don't need any knowledge of scripting to do
what I say, just the ability to invoke the File > Save As
command in PSP and the will to do it.
