Newbie: Run script on all files in folder
|
|
|
|
Can anyone help a total newbie when it comes to scripting?
I want to open a picture, change colour depth (Image | Increase Colour
depth | RGB-8 bits/channel) and then run a premade script (it is in the
PSP Restricted folder), save it then close it. I then want to do this
for all the pictures in that folder.
Can anyone help me with a sample script or point me to a website where I
can download one already made?
There are about 100 pics in the folder so doing it manually will be
tedious.
If it helps to describe the actual need I have, I want to open a PNG
file, change colour depth to 8 bits (it seems to help add antialias as
the pics are quite jaggedy on the edges), run the RemoveAnyColor script
[to remove all white] then save it. (The pics are b&w clipart).
Thanks very much!

This task would be best done using Batch Process. Record a script that does
the steps you want done on each image (increase color depth, add antialias,
run RemoveAnyColor script). Then go to File...Batch Process, select the
files to be processed, find your recorded script in the Script panel, select
the file type/location/new name, as applicable for the saved files, and run.
The script will run against each file you select, and save the files in the
manner you choose. You'll want to "test" on a few files first, to be sure
you have things set up the way you want. Check out the Help documentation
on Batch Process as well, for guidance and pointers. Suz

I'm thinking there may be a problem as to why the poster wishes to do this.
IE. do they think this will create transparency

They are old(ish) clipart files from a CD that were in TIF format. I
converted them all to PNG so I could have transparency when inserting into a
document.

Both Png and Tiff save the transparency as a mask saved in the alpha
channel that will have to be recorded too.

The TIFs all had white background - I wanted transparent. ;-)

The first thing to do is check to see if they have a mask already. So try
loading mask from alpha. If its greyed out then there is not one. Many clip
images contain the mask some times called a path.
Promote background select the white background and delete it. Then layers >
new mask layer > from image. chose the Source Opacity option. Now you have
the mask you can do Layers > load/save mask . to alpha. Now you can delete
the mask from the the layers pallet when asked if you wish to merge say no.
Now the next time you open the image load the mask from alpha and its got
the transparent background
