Question regarding script editor.
I'm using PSP 8.10. If I look at scripts that came with 8.10 or were
clearly written for it with no extras added in - then the script opens
in the PSP script editor. If I look at scripts written for any newer
version - then the scripts open in an external text editor.
When I look at these two scripts - they open in the external editor.
Can I take it that this indicates that there are functions added in to
the scripts that are not 8.10 compatible? How do I identify them? Is
there a list of functions versus PSP versions for comparison?
Thank you for any info.
Oh, is there some site that might have unchanged Adler 8.10 scripts?
Thanks again.

No, you do not need to make that assumption. It just indicates
that some change has been made to the script. The internal
editor has no brain so can't tell whether a change is or is not
going to effect how well the script works in your version of PSP
so, as it detects a change, the script is passed to the external
editor to allow you to read the script and make the determination
yourself.
Just run the script on an image. If it works and you don't get
any script errors, then don't worry about it. If you get a
script error report, ask about it here (posting the text of the
error) and somebody will help you make any necessary changes.

They both work in 8.10 and upward. When you peeked at the code, you
may have seen where it said
'Author': 'Sol Adler with steps from David',
I mentioned the editing to give credit to both Sol and David.

These scripts were written by a user just like you and me; as far as
I know it was during the PSP 8 public beta. Sol Adler, to my
knowledge, hasn't posted for a very long time, and if he had a site
hosting his scripts, I don't remember.

Maybe you'd be interested in other scripts by other users?
http://www.psplinks.com/content/Scripts_Downloads.html
This selection is far from complete, but most of the listed pages
will direct you to more (of their) scripts.
Something else you might enjoy doing, if you haven't already, is
record and save some steps of your own. You may find this helpful
http://members.home.nl/j.backer/ste...ving_steps.html
Things are marginally different in 8, but it will give you a very
global idea of what it's about.

Joske,
In your page "paintshoppro-retrieving_steps", you say that "View,
Palettes, History" is available in X, 9, and 8. I can't find it in
8.10. It looks like an interesting idea, but it looks like I'll have to
upgrade to get it.
All the Repliers,
Thank you for the information. I'm still feeling my way through the
world of computer art and image modification.

You're absolutely right and the first to point this out - I omitted
adding the steps for 8 to record a script. Thank you for that, I've
made the changes.

Enjoy the exploration.

Didn't Sol Adler also create some vector framing scripts? Any
idea what happened to them? And if it wasn't Sol then do you
have any idea who would it have been who made them?
