After you close your last image, you can always just click on the
browser button on the menu bar to open the browser - or perhaps
I've misunderstood the issue?

I think newer versions of software tend to take longer to load
than older versions because the newer versions tend to have more
options and tools (which is one reason for bringing out newer
versions) which have to be loaded. Most people, however, have
reported that PSPX loads a little faster than v.9, but I believe
that's bacause v.X doesn't load everything in cache until it
becomes needed as you use the program.
