I would like to know if there is a way to create a script which would
automatically bring up the crop selection tool without actually performing
the crop? (I am working in psp 8.10) Thanks.

I suspect you actually want to create a script that does other
things but incorporates a step that brings up the crop tool and
then allows you to adjust the crop parameters and then perform the
crop, is that correct?

If I recall correctly, this can't be done with the crop tool but
can be done by bringing up a rectangular selection box in edit mode
with the raster deform tool. This selection can than be adjusted
to size, moved and even rotated. Suzshook wrote such a script and
will likely be along soon. You might wish to post again with
specific information about exactly what steps you wish your script
to perform.

That's correct, Joe. You can't get just the crop box to come up in PSP 8 -
for that, the solution is to upgrade to PSP X. However, you can use a
combination of the Deform tool and Edit Selection to get a box you can
manipulate. And this can be done in a script. Once the Edit Selection box
is set the way you want to crop the image, you can just continue the script
which will turn off Edit Selection and crop to the selection, or you can do
this manually. As Joe mentioned, I'd have to know a bit more about what you
are doing and then I could post a version of my script that would perhaps
work for you. Initially, I would want to know if you want the "crop box" to
encompass the entire image, or just a portion of it. Would you want the box
to be, for example, 10 pixels in on all sides? The script we played with
last fall always started with a Edit Selection box that was 4 x 6. Give us
some more details, and I'm sure we can come up with something. Suz

Hi Suz,
Thanks for taking the time to help me out on this. What I am doing is
creating a script which will automate my proofs. I want the script to
perform certain corrections on an image and then come up with a 4x6 crop
selection and then re-save the file. The only step I have left is the crop
but aparently as Joe said that is not one I can peform as part of the
script. Maybe if it can be done in PSP X, it might be worth the upgrade for
me.

Please let me know if you have any ideas and thanks again! Jose

I don't have time to test in PSP 8 right now. Can't you load a preset
for Left, Right, Top, Bottom while using Gary Barton's Pause Script
mechanism? http://pixelnook.home.comcast.net/PauseScriptDemo.htm

I don't know about loading the preset, but Suz already uses the
pause script in the script she created that uses the edit
selection/deform commands to do the job.

Please try to avoid creating the impression that I am of ambiguous
gender. While personally I have nothing against transgender persons
or people suffering from gender dysphoria, I am a female rutabaga.
Joske has been working on making that abundantly clear :)

Oh, dear - I never meant to insinuate you were of ambiguous gender! Granted
you might be posting as a female rutabaga . . . but . . . however, I shall
try to address you as such in all future correspondence, lest you fall
victim to gender dysphoria!!!! Please accept my most humble apologies, Ms.
Spandex Rutabaga!!!! ;)

And abundant is the operative term for what Joske has been
presenting.

I may have been misunderstood. I was referring to the abundant
proportions she has given to some parts of the 'baga's anatomy :-).
