You will find the documentation and API for X here:

ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/documentation/PSP/

However, for the API I would advise keeping the one for 9 at hand,
as it does a better search (cross reference).

Most if not all scripts for 8 will work in X, but of course not
necessarily vice versa.

You can get it, as well as Scripting for Script Authors and also
the PSP9 Users Manual at the link below. The User manual is
about 5 times as large as the one available for PSPX, and much
more useful!

You're welcome. Don't lose the PSP9 stuff - at least until Corel
decides to provide equally useful info for its PSP "upgrades".

Joe,

With the link posted above being for PSP9, and the fact that I no longer
have 9 on my computer, will this try to install to my PSP9 folders? Would
this download work for creating scripts that make decisions, that use data
from an open document, or that prompt the user for data from PSPX or do I
need the correct scripting authors and API* for PSPX?
I really am at a loss what I do with these downloads for scripting. I have
never played with Python and any such scripting by hand code.
Thank you in advance any info you can provide..

I can only say that the PSP9 Users Manual is pdf format so won't
cause any problems. I have no idea what will happen with the
others. You could download them and set a Restore Point in
Windows XP before installing the other stuff. If the
installation doesn't work, just go back to your Restore Point.

Thanks Joe, I see now that Fred posted a link to the PSPX scripting stuff in
the thread "editing scripts" 2 below this thread.
So I will grab them and see if I can figure out where to install them to and
how to use them.

Both are independent of PSP 9. PDF manual, as you saw, and the
scripting API documentation is just a large number of HTML pages
that you can put anywhere convenient.

Fred, so there is nothing that actually installs into PSP to make the
scripting work differently.
It is all just documentation on how to make script work differently.
I was confused because on this link http://tinyurl.com/54pvo the scripting
for script authors when I clicked on it asked me if I wanted to "run, save
or cancel" and it is an .exe. Needless to say I clicked cancel!
The other thing is the PSPX Command API zipped files from the ftp site, I am
missing all the photo's that apparently belong where all the red "X's" are.
I am going to download the API for PSP9 and see if that has the images with
that download.

Hmmm, I'd be confused too. Perhaps a certain Corel man*ger decided
to pack the PDF into a self-extracting Zip file to "make it easier
for users"?

As for images, the PSP 9 API files contain no images. Perhaps
someone else can advise about those red "X's" as I have not unzipped
the PSP 10 API yet.

They should be present if you unzip the file correctly. I did a
check for you and unzipped the zipfile on

ftp://ftp.corel.com/pub/documentation/PSP/

It is identical to the one I downloaded long ago:

Unzipping it creates a folder called CommandAPI and within that a
number of subfolders, one of them called img. The img folder
contains two images, just a spacer and a header logo.

So:
doubleclick on the zipfile
(Winzip will open)
in Winzip:
Extract
Point Winzip to the destination folder or drive of your choice

I myself have a folder I called Scripting, in which I also have the
doc and API for 9. The latter is more useful and I advise to use
that instead or next to the one for X.

Yes, it is a self-extracting Zip file. On my computer it placed 29
index*.html files in a folder named Scripting_API along with 13
sub-folders that contain the content pages. I do not recall whether
I created Scripting_API or the extraction process did. Whichever is
the case, it is benign. Go for it.

Thank you Fred worked like a charm with all the sub-folders intack and the
links actually work on this one, little red "X's" are gone also. ;o)
