Howard: I have gotten the error message "Command could not complete
because the document type is unsupported".

I run PSPx and have the scripts in the Trusted folder. I started with a
pspimage file, single background layer. I got the same error message
when starting with a single layer jpg file. I thought that the error
resulted because I HAD to run the script against a pspimage file. Is
this a requirement?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ken

PS:Was running "lithograph" on file when error occurred; had
successfully run other scripts on same file.

Ken,

I must admit I've never experienced this kind of error, other than when
there was perhaps some layers active. The scripts should work with most
file formats, I regularly use .bmp, .jpg, .tif(f), .gif, and .pspimage
files without any errors. However I am using PSPX v10.02, and would
recommend at least updating to v10.01 as the original version had one or
two 'bugs/features'.

If it's happening with all your files, then I would suggest it is either
the above, a configuration problem, or the image isn't merged properly
or has an active selection.

If resetting your preferences, or updating doesn't solve the problem,
send me one of the problem images, and I'll have a look at it here.

Rgds,
Howard

Howard:

Thanks. I have 10.01 running, and used a single layer, flattened,
either with pspimage or jpg. I will retry various times with same or
newly saved files, and if I get the problem, I will forward the jpg file
via email for you to test.

I have run into another problem with the AutoMatte script, where it
completes (wonderfully I will say) on one image, but then on another
image seems to stop part way--no error message, just clearly a stop in
the middle. I am not script literate and can not tell where it stopped
or why.

Do you prefer questions like these to be posted here on the NG or would
prefer the questions be emailed directly to your email address?

Ken,

Unless it is a general question about a script, it's best to contact me
directly about individual problems.

Your problem may be running them in the trusted folder. They
go in the restricted folder.

Steve: ok, I think you are right about them being in the Trusted
folder...that is where I put them.

My understanding of the differences must be faulty; trusted scripts can
perform various file write operations and thus you wouldn't put a script
in there that was "untrustworthy". Obviously I am missing something
about the differences. What is it? Any why would it affect the script?

Thanks for a little more explanation.

I have them in the Trusted Folder and they all run fine here.

I put them in the restricted, because that is where Howard's
instructions say to place them.

OK, thanks. I missed or forgot the instructions to put them in the
Restricted folder. Confusing at best with Dave saying his run fine in
the Trusted folder.

For anyone, what is the answer to the broader question of differences
between the Restricted and Trusted folders, besides:
"Additionally, the following commands are not allowed when run
from a Restricted script:
File: Save, Save As, Save Copy As, Close, Close All, Send, Exit
File > Export: GIF Optimizer, PNG Optimizer, JPEG Optimizer,"

Why would the location affect how Howard's scripts run?

Ken,

The location won't stop any of my scripts from running. Although I
recommend locating them in the Restricted folder, this is just for some
users who are wary of placing any third party scripts in the Trusted
folder. They all run fine from either location.

Contact me, and I'll send through the latest versions for you, to ensure
you have valid scripts.

That's an excellent endorsement of Howard's script.

David,

Yes, in extreme cases like this, it's best to adjust the colour balance
and usually give it a little tweak up in saturation (I found my Castaway
script worked quite well in conjunction with this one). Looks pretty
good though, even if I do say so myself. :)

I was considering adding in all these other adjustments (colour cast
removal, saturation adjust, DCNR etc) to make it one of those 'all
singing, all dancing' one shot image correction scripts, but I think
I'll leave it as it is for the time being, as it does this precise job
quite well.

Nice use of the script . . . but what are they doing? :)

Hi Barb,
It's my wife's Soroptimist Club's annual Bingo Bash to raise funds
for scholarships. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend because
they presold more seats than the resturant could legally hold
or the Fire Marshall would be on their case. So, DS got the
honor of pic taking. All the pics where the flash went off
were perfect. It appears that bright pinpoint type lights
can fool the auto flash sensor into not firing the flash.
