BETA3 - PhotoCorrect script

| Folks,
This is proving to be an interesting(?) project.
The objective being trying to get a script to 'normalize' images that
are overexposed or underexposed (too dark or light).
In this version I've simplified the method to sample the image's
luminance (no more grey boxes) making it quicker, and have extended the
sampling to a five area matrix (4 quarters of the image, plus center
area), so hopefully it will be more accurate also.
For the beta version anyway, I've given the user 4 options...
1) Normal - This will normalize the luminance to 128, without correcting
contrast.
2) Histogram - This normalizes as above, and adjusts the image histogram
to correct contrast.
3) Curves - This normalizes and uses Curves adjustment to correct contrast.
4 HistoCurve - Uses a combination of 2 & 3 methods.
As we've found out before, it's nigh on impossible to script fo all
image exposure scenarios, but hopefully, through trial and error, with
the options here, we may find one that's suitable.
What I have found when running the script on very dark or very light
images, is the saturation needs a slight boost, but I'll leave that for
the time being.
Again, I'd be grateful for any kind of comments and feedback.
*** NOTE *** Script written for PSP9.

Howard

Joëlle,
Yep, it's a task alright!
Yours, I'm afraid, is one of those problem pics where the majority of
the image is light, but the subject is darker, so the luminance is
adjusted for the overall lightness. As I mentioned, in this version I
have 5 sample points, I may give a greater weighting to the center
sample, which would help this example, but may not with others. I don't
want to add a lightening adjustment, as that would defeat the objective
of normalising to mid luminance. I want to do that as the base
adjustment, then just add in contrast with one of the user option
methods. For me, the curves adjustment method appears the best at the
moment.
I'll be working with this for a while. If you want, send me your
original (full size) and I'll use it as one of my test images.

Howard
