| Some time ago, RonV showed us some scans of some of his physical
sketches. That prompted me to look for my old sketchbooks. I finally dug
them out and decided to play around with an old cartoon of Larry and me
in my 1970s VW Beetle. I called her "Frau Schmidt" (or, in my more
affectionate moments, "Desireé" *g*).
Here's a colorized version of the charcoal sketch, zapped rather subtly
with a little Snap Art Impasto.
Lori
P.S. Frau Schmidt actually did have a bumper. I don't know why it didn't
make it into the cartoon. *lol*

This is great Lori, love it.
I tend to scribble on paper tablecloths in restaurants, can't keep those!
Frau Schmidt looks very 'homely' :-))

And a delightful drawing it is, too. You should keep on developing
that style, and use it to descibe other episodes in your life. I'll

Thanks so much, Ron. :) And thanks for prompting me to find my old=20

I used to do stuff like this all the time, but haven't drawn much of=20

Love this :o)
You are making me rethink LOL..
Not that this sketch is entirely suitable
but have you used trace much to vectorise
line art? I am finding it a little more useful
as my proficiency grows.

Thanks for all your considered responses ideas and wonderful
images. The fountain scene with the fairy dust will stay with me
for a long time. And your narrations really help me see the character.
I am hoping next year will bring you continuing improvements to
your health as well as a lot of happiness and love for you and yours.

No, I know the different meanings. They all apply and hence the word is=20

But there's more to the North American meaning than you might think. My=20

also beautiful. :)

Thanks so much, Carrie. Such generous wishes are much appreciated.
Right now I'm slowly recovering from a blood problem, and the only
portal I have to the outside world is the TV and computer. My
daughters tell me that daytime TV can rot the brain, and after seeing
a few, I believe them. That leaves the computer, and bringing my
memories and fantasies out for display is one enjoyment I hope to
keep.
May you and yours have a truly merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

This is adorable, Lori! Frau Schmidt brings back memories of driving around
in the Beetle that my college roomate had. Are you going to buy Snap Art? I
read some of the comments about it in a different thread, and gave it a try.
I wasn't particularly impressed with it, but I like the result on your image
here, so maybe I need to play around with it some more.

Thanks, Gail. I bought Frau Schmidt back in grad school, so I could
drive up to Chomsky's class once a week. (I figured no Cambridge car
thieves would be interested in her. *g*)
I now have Snap Art and I think it's pretty darn cool. The only filter
I've been disappointed with so far is the watercolor one, but nobody
gets watercolor right. The quality of the brushstrokes is fine, but what
watercolorist does a whole painting using brushstrokes shaped like
blocks? Maybe I haven't learned how to use it right yet, though.
One thing I noticed in Snap Art is that larger sized images seem to give
better results. Looks like the filters need a lot of pixels to work with
to really work their magic. Let's both play around with SA some and see
what we can come up with. That could be lots of fun. :)
Lori
P.S. I found that when you mess around with SA it's good to remember
that you can change the color of the canvas and the highlights. I think
some of the "snow" Joe mentioned he was seeing can be eliminated with a
little tweaking.

Yes, I am working on a tablet class, Pat. DSU is redoing their schedule
