Thanks, Joëlle. The remodeling project was not by choice, but a result of a
water leak which occurred while we were traveling. Yuck, what a mess.
Looks are deceiving. Ozzie has done a lot more work than I have. Max has
done nothing but look cute. We had a lot of workers doing the hard stuff.
We just hope we're back to normal (what was that again?) by the holidays
which are approaching much too fast!

Boy, it looks like you'll spend the holidays redecorating. But, they
say it's the spirit that matters, so with a cheery xmas tune or two
accompanying the work, it might not be so bad.
My stomach gets into a knot when I think of the new kitchen being
installed on the 20th, two days before my b'day. The noise, the men
walking in and out, the rubble, keeping the cats out of the way
(moping in a closed room)... not my kind of thing at all :-)
By the way, the email I couldn't send twice was a second reply. It
did go out a day later. Funny, because Sally writes somewhere that
she has/had email trouble as well. Must be critters gnawing at your
cables over there :-)

Holidays and remodeling, phew! Not the most peaceful of combinations.
Hope it's not too stressful, Jeanne, and that it all comes out great in
the end.

The prospect of having a cleaner, cheerier house when we're finished is
enough to keep us going. We're do-it-yourselfers from the beginning, so
we're not unaccustomed to this state of affairs. It isn't what I would have
chosen, but having been pushed into it, we are turning lemons into lemonade.
You will too. My advice would be to be sure you get everything you will
need into a safe place before the workmen come. Look in on the guys
occasionally because instructions do get misinterpreted. Then stay out of
the way and pretend it isn't happening! Funny that you mention critters
gnawing because that's what caused all of our flood troubles. So far they
haven't hit the computer but they're pretty clever.

Thanks for caring! Yes, we can handle it. We did most of it ourselves
originally as I think you know. This time we're enough older that we opted
to have as much help as we could get. Some things we just have to do
ourselves, tho. Oh, well. One never knows what's around the next corner.
It's all turning out well.

Thanks, Lori. We don't host big family dinners anymore -- the young folks
are doing that. We're working Christmas cards into odd moments and will
probably skip anything unnecessary about the holidays. Stressful, yes, but
manageable. It will be worth it when it's done.

I remember what it was like to have no kitchen (or house,
essentially) during the holidays (remember last years
renovation?) so I hope you're done before then, Jeanne. I like
the picture! And... it looks like Max already has his party hat
on, lol. Too cute <g>.

Yes, I remember your tribulations. Actually, the kitchen damage was
repaired quickly. The bedrooms will be the last to be finished. It will be
so nice to have my bed and clothes in the same place again. Yes, Max will
tolerate a hat for a minute and a half. Just long enough to snap a quick
picture. Thanks, Michelle.

This is a cute picture of all three of you, Jeanne! For the next pic, ask
Max if you can wear the party hat ;-) Happy Holidays to you and your family!
