Strange, I remember when my birthday wasn't an emergency phone number
or a day of remembrance.

Wife and daughters (+ families) tossed me a party last night, since
everyone would be doing a normal workday on Monday. I cooked my
special rib meal (Honey/Lemon country style), with hash brown potato
casserole, cranberry/apple fruit salad, green salad, and crusty French
bread. My wife made a 'Lucky if you get a piece' Cake.

Haven't thought about it tilt now... Why did I cook my own birthday
meal? And I get to do all over again this weekend for my wife. I
wonder what she'd like for her birthday....

all the best Ron and well done getting here and getting better
I hope by your next birthday you will be laughing at your
current physical problems. Though having seen glimpses of
your humour you probably are already :o))
Here in Oz it is a great time for giving vegetables (as in plants)
some good friends of mine hubbie found (OK I found) some of
those classic varieties of tomato and zuchinni and set up a garden
(yer and I helped) with 3 hourly vouchers for labour there (each
week) until Christmas (I did the labour vouchers - there will be
no worming out of them).. She was so excited and thought it was
the most thoughtful gift he has ever given her.
(He now owes me big time LOL)
I like the vouchers idea though very much...
say
1 dinner for 2
Maybe a day searching antique shops (whatever she likes doing)
Purchasing her 1 sweater (together)
I weekend away (as your means permit)
etc etc
You should be able to come up with 12 things - enough to last the
entire year!! Things that are realistic but considerate and even
necessary. Dont we find when we make things joint and shared
experiences we also make them fun, loving and joyous?

I have to agree, it's much worse than 22 December, which to me was a
date wedged in between Sinterklaas and Christmas and shortly before
New Year's Eve, so as a child I thought I'd get less presents :-)

!!~~~Happy Birthday Ron~~~!!

She wants you to be doing the things you can and like to do, that's
my guess :-)

By the way, over here the birthday person gets presents, but gets to
arrange all the festivities him/herself, including shopping for food
and drink, cooking, etcetera. So maybe you could say you went Dutch
for a day.

Happy Birthday! :)

I not only cook my own meal on my birthday, but bake my own cake. It ensures
that I can actually eat it as I have to be very careful about some
ingredients and foods I eat. I think it just enhances the celebration - and
you are sure to get the food you like done the way you like it. :)

Barb, Carrie, Joske, Fuzzie D., Dangerous, James, McGrandpa, Thank you
for your very kind remarks.

I'm very happy just to be here, and acknowledge birthday wishes from
around the world!

I hope that your next one is as happy an event that mine was.

Ron

I'm late for the party, as usual. Happy Belated Birthday, Ron. Sorry I
missed the day itself. Hope it was a good one!

Thank you, Gail.

Yes, it was quite a party. Every year, there's always one joke gift.
This year, it was an Off-Road Vehicle!

That turns out to be a picture of a totally wrecked/burned out hulk,
with the caption, 'It's been off the road for months, tow it home and
it's yours!'

Lame party humor, but everyone enjoys it!

Thank you.

Ron
