Author change image size once pasted

I am a new user so please bare with me. I have started a new project at
24x36". Put a border around it and inserted a few images, logos, etc. I am
trying to increase the size of each image to a specific size not just using
the stretch boxes. I pic the item, go to resize, give it the new size and
it doesn't resize correctly. Usually alot smaller than i wanted. Again, i
just want to be able to bring in an image and change it's size. If i open
the image up and change its size then copy and paste it into my border
sheet, it comes in fine. But once i select it and change it from 6" to 8"
in height the scale goes crazy.

Any Ideas, I'm sure it's a simple fix

The statement: "I have started a new project at 24x36"
has no meaning in PSP or any other graphic program. If you had
stated something like:
"I have started a new project at 24x36" at 200 ppi." Then, we could
have multiplied the desired printed size (which is the only place a
linear measurement such as inches has meaning) and come up with the
actual size of the image, 4800 x 7200 pixels.

Use the Image>Resize to resize any item you want re-sized. Let's say
you want a new image that is currently 500 x 500 pixels to cover 6 x 6
inches in your printed image. Open that image, open the Resize
control, select 6 inches high, 6 inches wide, and 200 ppi. Keep the
mode in Smart Re-Size. After the resize is complete, just copy the
entire image and transfer it to your master image.

I'm not sure what you mean by "But once i select it and change it from
6" to 8" in height the scale goes crazy." Since a 6 x 6 image at 200
PPI would be an actual size of 1200 pixels per side, resized to 1600
pixels per side, and the resize does that quite accurately.

I'd rather bear with you, if you don't mind. I'm a bit skittish
about nakedness. Please read the answers in the other group where
you duplicated this question. The quick advice is to measure image
sizes in pixels, ignoring inches because inch sizes are arbitrary.
