Now... About that horizon line. What I see is a knight charging
across a salt flat. I know that there's a tree back there, but it's
not very obvious. (a single tree in the middle of a desert? Perhaps
the knight rested there and left his noble steed there while he
charged into battle on foot? Perhaps his squire is there with a full
camp?)

Even some mountains along the horizon to break up that straight line
would help get rid of that 'Boundless Sea' look.

Grass, shrubs?

Thanks Ron. The background is a relatively old one and I was just pleased
that after following your advice that I think I've finally got the shadows
right. I'm going to have to spend more time on Vue to make myself some more
backgrounds I can use in my Poser scenes.

The dust cloud is a very nice touch, Adriaan.

This version reminds me of the Robert Browning poem "Childe Roland to the
Dark Tower Came", a very creepy yet beautiful poem (just the thing Gail
would like). It's the inspiration for Stephen King's Dark Tower stuff.

The term "childe" doesn't mean "child" but rather "untested knight". Your
knight seems a lot smarter than Roland - but less brave - since he looks to
be running away from the tower. ;)

I wonder if the now totally free Bryce 5 might help you out there.
It's a long time since I've seen the program (have downloaded it
just now) but I think you could build some good landscapes with it?
And I think there's also a place for free resources.

Thanks Joske but I already have Bryce 5.5 (and I paid for it :-( ). But I
much prefer Vue which is a similar program.
