Stopped before Polar Cordinates

| Ok, I'll stop here before I get too tangled up.
Twirl, Mesh Deformation Maps, Skew, Punch, Wave, Barrel Distortion...
Duped, Mirrored, Rotating Mirror...
started with 16 (4x4) similarly textured orbs spaced equidistantly on
transparent layer.
Entirely in PSP X.
Totally abstract.
The r-p Polar Coordinates of this is an intriguing face-off.

Beautiful! (And I bet a Kaleidoscope and/or Feedback version would also be
nifty/)
I used to make stuff like this using just PSP all the time. I hope you
inspire me to do so again soon.

That is like magic, That is why PSP is so endlessly entertaining.

Really interesting David!...it has a certain "morbidity' to it in that it
reminds me of exposed muscles attached to tendons and rib cages...well
done.

PSP can do more than many people think. I particularly like the mesh
tools as they apply a high quality finish to the edges warped, something
missing with most of the other effects.

Thanks, and yes, it reminded me of that also for a while. But I
wouldn't call "exposed muscles attached to tendons and rib cages"
morbid, as long as they're attached, that is.

Started with the orbs on a transparent layer. Twirled it at maybe 320.
Erased the middle then duped layer, mirrored and merged down. Punched
it a few times. Applied the Mesh Warp Paper Edges Deformation Map a few
times. From there I can't remember the exact order of the distortions I
did, but I did increase the canvas size to accommodate the distortions.
I had softened the edges of these orbs to diminish the prevalence of so
many hard edges when stretching pixels. I was amazed at how few
instances I had to use the Soften brush even when I enlarged the image
double.

Thanks, glad you like it. The quickie frame is a ribbon wrap
kaleidoscope (of the image in focus, of course) preset adjusted some,
then applied a custom Offset wrap. Mesh warped to make it a frame.

That's what my folders are filled with: abstracts. Very few images I

That's quite funny. Apparently a certain type of interpolation
exists there but hasn't been extended to the rest of the app. I
know Adobe takes considerable trouble with interpolation in their
warp tools but I haven't seen that the results are any better
than in PSP.

At first sight it looks rather nice, even an object (the shadow gets
most credit for that). But then, at least in my eagle eyes, it's
immediately clear that it's a manipulated flat image: there's no
depth in it but instead a lot of areas are giving away the
twodimensional character.
Not meant as criticism, but I tend to look beyond the first
impression :-) As I found with doing the PC tutorials further down
in this group, it often takes a lot of manual extras to make things
have depth, or logical sharpness, etc.

Ah, this one has still got convincing 3D qualities. I like the

Thanks, Barb, Jo=EBlle, and Michelle. :) You folks should give this sort=20
of thing a try, too. Kaleidoscope something and then try messing with=20
it. In addition to the effects already mentioned in this thread, also=20
try Hot Wax Coating (using white as the "wax"), maybe following it with=20
some sharpening and/or brightness/contrast adjustment.
