The Polar Coordinate filter is good for working with things
that you want to turn into something circular. It is also good
for starting with something that has an axis of rotational
symmetry. You can unwrapping this something into a linear
pattern that is seamless when tiled horizontally.

This tutorial shows how to make something with rotational
symmetry using a very simple recorded script that anyone can
make. The shapes are fun just for what they are. However,
these shapes can be unwrapped into something interesting and
quite flexible. Part of the way this is done is to apply
the Polar Coordinates transformation to a selection marquee
(as opposed to selection contents). The unwrapped selection
can afterwards be filled with anything you like.

Awesome series! I never realized that Polar Coordinates could be used in
this way. Gives me some ideas. :)

I agree with you Lori regarding this one. Appreciated all these tuts that
Spandex took the time to do. I sent in a reply before there was one from
anyone else but it still hasn't shown up on my screen. Haven't resent as
don't want to be annoying.....Pat

What else would you expect from a lovely waxy rutabaga (available
