Discussing, showing, comparing, etc, techniques is just as enjoyable
as far as I'm concerned.
And here's Tracy's T-shirt tutorial:

Clever stuff, Carrie.
I like deformation maps, you can get some good effects.
:-)

Thanks for posting this, Carrie. My favorite thing about this group is the
learning opportunities and the inspiration. My thinking on deformation maps
before seeing your image was, "Why would you want to?" Now I see why.

Ta Joske
And thanks a bunch to Tracy who made the tutorial interesting
enough to do and clear enough to follow. So well explained that
I even retained the bulk of the information needed.
The comparisons are interesting I quite agree :o)
Will try and keep teack of the link this time thanks

No worries Doris
thanks for the encouragement :o)
Deformation is such fun and is really good for
use in scrapping etc.. Make some neat ribbons
and cloth as well as tatooing people etc.

Ta Joelle
you must show some stuff you have used deformation
maps for :) It is always interesting to get ideas.

I'm glad it was Tracy's, that was the only T-shirt one I knew of :-)
I agree that Tracy explains things clearly, and not only that, she
has some useful and original ideas on her site. Who would have known
that one day someone had need of directions to decorate a piece of
scrap with a flower :-)

You're saying your technique uses a deformation map. Sorry to
be anal retentive but deformation maps are things that appear
in the Mesh Warp and Warp Brush tools. They are a way of saving
your warp to later apply it in one go to another image. What
you are talking about are displacement maps used in the
Displacement Map filter.

I'm afraid not :) Carrie is actually talking about displacement
maps, not deformation maps. (Deformation maps are used in the
warp tools.) For another mini-tutorial on how the attached flag
was made find and read this post:

you are absolutely right I am using the
effect menu > deformation > displacement maps
and, as ever, thanks for clearing this up
I should have been more careful in my words.
sorry for any confusion :(
